The start point

Took a walk along the road to Adams and S.Michigan junction where the Route 66 'Begin' sign is.
Also walked along the lake shoreline road for a while and then back into the built up area. Found a T-Mobile shop and bought a second SIM for my phone so I now have a UK And a USA number active on my phone. MUCH cheaper than using my UK SIM for roaming.
Back at the hotel and I went down to use the pool, only to find it half drained so closed! I don't know if it was half empty or half full, depends on how optimistic you're feeling.
