Last day in Newcastle and delighted that the morning began with sunshine on the Quayside. What’s not to like about a peculiar sculpture and an iconic piece of architecture?
After we checked out of Malmaison (loved our stay) we grabbed a taxi up the hill to Fenwicks on Northumberland Street where we met an old friend from college who I hadn’t seen for nigh on 40 years (she’s still lovely).
After that we walked back to pick up the car via Grey Street, Dean Street and Side. Really makes you realise why we love the city.
Lots of steps and then the drive home. Various detours to avoid road closures. What’s going on with that today?
