Zion and Some Shells
For those who've not looked at Mike's Blip yesterday, we've had a total miracle, no other word for it. We left Aduro at death's door, several days without eating or drinking (except what we managed to force into her with a syringe) and getting weaker and weaker. And then, when the vet manged to get there, he actually rang to ask which cat was ill! Unbelievable.
Paul left at crack of dawn. Sob.
The rest of us got the ferry to Ilha Deserta, which could mean desert or deserted island; in this case, both are true - only one fisherman still lives there (if he does). Stunning beach along one side, covered in millions of shells, which we were asked not to take away. And then, a marker for the most southerly point in mainland Portugal, where we ate our picnic. Then a boardwalk across to the other side, surrounded by a sea of curry plants. And back around to the restaurant where we had welcome drinks.
Lent verses were Genesis 17v3-9, God to Abraham:
I'm establishing my covenant between me and you... a covenant that goes on and on and on, a covenant that commits me to be your God...
And not only with Abraham, but with whoever accepts the terms - so grateful for God's commitment to us.
Gratefuls:
- Aduro's miraculous recovery
- Paul's month long visit
- the stunning beauty of Ilha Deserta: the blues and greens of the water, the long curving beach, the hundreds of birds, the flowers, the fish flashing silver in the clear water, the endless variety of shells, and especially, my grandkids enjoying it all
Check out my friend in Spain's very first Blip, let's give her a Blip welcome!
