Picket Windows (and Van Gogh) ...

... captured while waiting for the restaurant just down the street to open at 6 pm to let us in for dinner.   Our friends Ann and Charley had bicycled (their usual local travel mode) from their home on the outskirts of London to join us.  We had a very good time, with wine and lots of jolly talk :)

In the afternoon we had visited a small exhibition of 17 self-portraits (and a chair) by Vincent Van Gogh at the Courtauld Gallery in the Strand. They are poignant in the extreme, all from within three years of his death by suicide in 1890
