Glen Cinema Memorial

My sculpture photography mainly features new work now so it doesn't happen all that often.   This was a catch up for one that has been here since December.  If you don't like sad stories you may want to look away now!

The disaster at the Glen Cinema happened during a children's matinee in 1929 when a smoking film canister caught fire.  During the subsequent panic 71 children died and at least another 30 were injured, some of them seriously. It was made worse by the fact that the exit gates had been shut.   This statue is dedicted to the childen and their families.
