Our prayer…

“May peace prevail on earth.” In Dulwich Park today. A much calmer day with no wind and warmer temperatures. A lovely walk in a favourite park.

This evening I received an email from the son of our Headteacher at Croham Hurst to tell me she had died on 1st March. Her lymphoma had returned in October. We were in touch regularly after that and in February she told me she was looking forward to a new T- Cell treatment. I’d had no replies to my last few emails. Her son saw the one I sent this week and told me this really sad news this evening.

I’m so grateful for our years together at Croham Hurst. We joined the school on the same day at the beginning of the new school year in 2000. I am so grateful for her care for me when my father was dying, preparing the way for me to be with him for his last week. Grateful for the coffee and picnic meets we’ve kept going since Croham Hurst as it was came to an end in 2008. For the wonderful leader she was, loved and respected by colleagues, pupils and parents. Much, much more in between.

Tonight, I pray for her family, and as we were reminded today and watch the news from Ukraine, that peace will prevail on earth.
