War memorial
We woke up to brilliant sunshine today so went for a walk down the River Trent to The War Memorial gate. This was built on land donated by Sir Jesse Boot, founder of Boots the Chemist, in 1920. Behind the gate are gardens with a formal fountain and a statue of Queen Victoria. In the summer the gardens are lovely but I have to say they were looking very bare today and not worthy of a photo.
This was followed by a trip to Holme Pierrepont Water centre where the Conventboys (who are both keen kayakers) watch a bit of a slalom event which was taking place whilst Mr Conventgirl and I stayed in the car where it was considerably warmer.By this time the breeze had whipped up to near galeforce!
