The Forbidden City

Once the palaces of the Ming and Qing dynasties of Beijing. The Forbidden city served as a home for emperors and their households for at least 500 years. There are 8,707 rooms many of which the emperors lonely concubines lived. The ceilings are gold and yellow to represent imperial dignity and the centre of the earth (in the emperors eyes). The walls red to symbolise celebration and happiness - only the emperor was allowed these rich colours the outside people were only allowed grey buildings.

This city once forbidden to common and outside people now opens its doors to us for tourism, thanks for letting us in China!
