45 years!
Saturday
It’s hard to believe it’s been 45 years since we said “I do”! The date fell on a Saturday as this year, and the weather was not greatly different from today - 45 years ago when we came out of the church, we had snow flurries, and this morning we had showers of sleet. I don’t remember it feeling so cold as it was today, but maybe that was young love keeping us warm! It was a lovely service, officiated jointly by Kenneth Cracknell, our Methodist chaplain from Loughborough University where we met, and the minister of my home church, and we came down the aisle to Walton’s Crown Imperial March. Unfortunately, Roger’s Dad was feeling really ill with the flu, though we were somewhat ignorant of that at the time - he put a brave face on it, so as not to spoil the day for us! We spent our wedding night at a lovely hotel in Stow on the Wold, on our way down to Penzance, where we took the helicopter to the Isles of Scilly for a week’s honeymoon.
Since the weather wasn’t conducive today to going out for a walk, we had a pretty quiet day today, starting with a good breakfast, and finishing with an enjoyable dinner out at an Italian restaurant in downtown Montgomery.
Time for me to go to bed now, as we have to be at church early in the morning, to practice for our Palm Sunday service!
