Trip out

A busy morning making teas and coffees at the village hall. We had a couple of volunteers that didn't show so we had to rope in a couple of locals who had just come in for a quiet morning of socialising over a hot drink and a bacon butty! Luckily none of us mind doing extra when required and we had a fun morning. I passed my responsibility of emptying kettles and urn to Barry as I had to leave on the dot of noon! Val and I were off to a talk being held in Sunderland where she belongs to the embroiderer's guild. It wasn't the talk she was expecting but very interesting about the history of needle making in Redditch, where there is a museum Forge Mill which tells the story of how needles have been made over the centuries.  There were a couple of tables with a great variety of sewing bits and pieces and I bought this lovely remnant of fabric which I'll make into two cushion covers, just £3, a bargain! Unfortunately it was very cold in the hall where the meeting was held and we were quite pleased to make a hasty exit at the end. I was pleased I'd made my purchase at the beginning!
