Everyday I Write The Book

House proud

Having had what we now call The Green Room decorated, and having today reclaimed The Snug from work (TSM has been using it as a home office for the two years since the pandemic started), we now have a house that is looking rather lovely.

According to Spruce:

"One of the most important principles in feng shui is the commanding position. This governs how you can position yourself in life. Be sure to apply this principle to the location of your bed, desk, and stove. ... When you are in a commanding position, you are in command of your life. You are in a position to receive positive energy and the best opportunities."

Having spent the morning achieving this commanding position we then took a walk to our local garden centre (garden regeneration being an annual project for us at this time of year). Actually we spent more time drinking coffee than perusing the garden stuff, but its the steps that count. We then walked across the recreation ground to the supermarket and back home along the canal.

At one point we were entranced by watching a moorhen who was collecting nesting materials, busily collecting leaves and twigs and taking them to a sheltered spot underneath some overhanging foliage. We were joined by a woman who was as enthusiastic as we were and started chatting to us about the glories of nature. All seemed harmonious and sweetness and light until she started a rant, blaming the decline in birdlife on cats and housing developments. Worse, she blamed the latter on the influx of foreigners to this country. When we challenged her on this she got angry, told us she worked in housing and that we were ignorant, and stomped off taking her racist and gataphobic aura with her.
Interesting moment. From joy to confrontation in the space of a few minutes. But the moorhen just carried on with its business, unbothered by our human squabbles.

Incidentally cat hating is common but easily refuted, check this out:

TSM made a rather lovely Thai curry in the evening and we listened to Bach in our newly decluttered snug so balance was restored. Although the cloud of yesterday was with us most of the day; we were thinking of my cousin's family and the terrible sadness they are enduring. That kind of puts everything else in perspective ...
