Sargent Best ran a top race today at Methven finishing 4th after making a big run from the rear of the field at the 800m mark. This photo is actually of Franco Jorik. A year ago he ran 5th in the New Zealand Trotting Derby. We were thrilled but his next two starts were disastrous. He was , and still is, a New Zesland record holder for 2 year old trotters. Bone fragments in his knees  were diagnosed. Two operations and a break of one year and he is ready to go again. A brilliant win at the trials last week signaled that he will likely make his return to racing this coming Wednesday. I am not too worried about where he finishes as it is just so exciting to have him back.
