Palm Sunday

Another lovely morning but with frost of course! It has finally ‘got’ the highest blooms on the big magnolia tree but the lower blooms still look good and we have had two good weeks of it flowering so not too bad.

Whilst scanning the garden prior to walking up to church the early sun was highlighting some of the fritillary blooms. So pretty and even more so I think with the droplets left by the frost. This one doesn’t have as many spots as some of the other cream and red ones but I liked everything else about it.

Our Rector did a spoken drama of the events of Holy Week instead of readings (such a relief not to have a reading today!) starting with Palm Sunday. He made it very entertaining and interesting for the ‘all age’ service and then went on to do a sermon - all without notes. You really can’t help but admire his abilities.

We don’t have flowers in church during the solemn season of lent, when the church is filled with flowers next Sunday it will all add to the joy of Easter. One of the ladies who mainly does the flowers asked if she could do a small arrangement on the alter as a tribute to all those suffering in Ukraine. Very poignant - extra.

Our son is coming for an early Easter dinner as we won’t be here to share Easter with him next Sunday.

Got some washing out and dry but as with the past few days the sun is now becoming hazy as the cloud rolls in. At least there are no snow or hail showers - yet.

Warmer weather to return next week we’re told, whether it will be with or without sun remains to be seen.

Have a good week everybody

Sorry I will add my Flickr album for those who want to see more of Shibden Hall but have to do it on my lap top. Here - the bottom of P1 of the April album is the start of Shibden hall photos and on to p 2.
