Autumn Leaves

The sky is actually blue, some strange bright object has appeared in the firmament and I am not wearing a jacket. Seems like a good day to find an autumn leaf or two. Can't let the season go past without a few mementos.

Now yesterday. I was working at the computer and had lit a joss stick (as I do from time to time) when I happened to glance up to behold smoke billowing voluminously through the opening in the top of my desk lamp shade. My first thought was that the shade had caught fire, Before I launched myself in the direction of an extinguisher, I noticed that the fumes were actually coming from the incense and working their way toward the light, presumably because the air around the bulb was slightly warmer than elsewhere and was rising. The smoke seemed unnaturally noticeable at first until I realised that it was being lit from below and that swirls which might otherwise have been fading from view were being highlighted. I certainly had never set up for a shot. Once again a happy accident.

I got close and framed the smoke, such that the hole in the shade would appear as a bright line from which the vapour might seem to be emanating. Anyway, that was yesterday's blip. I guess my posting from a few days back must have offered a clue. In any event thanks so much to all of those who took an interest. As I suspected, many of you either guessed correctly or came very close.
