Varenna

Today was the first day of the Spring timetable, and the first day the tourist boats are running. We took advantage to take a return trip by boat over to Menaggio. It was quite windy on the way over, and even more windy on the way back.

Some spray hit the lens as I was taking this picture of Varenna as we passed by. I have done my best to remove the spray in processing. The boat was rocking as we crossed the lake. We took a slightly longer route than usual as the boats hugged the coast.

Menaggio was windy also but we found a sheltered and sunny spot at the Hotel du Lac for lunch.

On retuning to Lenno the howling gale ensured we just headed back to the apartment. Too windy to stay in the garden despite the sunshine. On Sunday one of the local residents said it was the strongest gale he could remember in all the  time he lived here.
