SAFE!

Today was the first time in two weeks that the local high school was able to play its baseball and softball games due to good weather. It's been lousy weather the past two weeks and the Athletic Director is going nuts rescheduling games because of it.

The original Blip features a winning slide into home base for the 1-0 win. It was 0-0 through the top of the 7th inning (the last inning in high school ball). The home team was up to bat with 2 outs; the 3rd batter slammed a single; the next batter managed another single sending the 3rd batter to 2nd base; then a miracle....the next batter hit a ground ball hard up the middle and the 3rd batter scored all the way from 2nd base. It took a headfirst slide into home base to avoid the tag and he got the win for the team.  Wonderful game.

Extra: The girls played their 1st softball game of the year as well. I'm fortunate that the two fields are right next to each other so I could shoot both games.

The opposition finished very high in the standings last season and they lost no one to graduation so they were expected to be very good. The first batter slammed a home run over the fence in left field. It was not looking good.

Then we got two outs and came up to bat. Their pitcher was fierce but the home team bats rapped out a few hits. That gave them hope. It was a few innings before we scored but the games ended with the home team winning 8-0. It turned out that our pitcher was pretty fierce herself.

It was a very productive afternoon...and the weather was very nice....for a change.
