Shaking

It took us some time to work out what causes deep thudding, thundering vibrations that occasionally shake our house. Originally I thought it was pile-driving on the off-shore wind farms. It turns out it’s the shock waves from explosions at the secret MOD weapons testing/ training facility some 30 miles away, up the estuary at Shoeburyness.

I don’t know what they are up to this week but the endless shaking of our foundations today are ridiculous. Some local people claim the explosions are causing cracks in their houses and broken windows, but the MOD deny this is possible and enigmatically report that the way the vibration is felt is ‘complicated’.
