An ordinary life....

Kissing the sun…

Backblip

When S & L arrived on Friday and were planning their week's activities, we offered to take the girls out for the day to let then have some time on their own.  S was completely overwhelmed by our offer as they've not had a day to themselves since Anna was 9 months old (6 1/2 years!)

It was decided that we would take them out today as Esme was also available (her usual weekly activities are off as it's the Easter holidays.)

A plan was hatched yesterday to meet up with Esme, Ele and Jen at the Kelpies this afternoon and there was great excitement as the girls got in the car (mainly from their mum and dad!)  In extras you can see how devastated S & L were at the prospect of a day without their cherubs :-)))

It was raining as we left but dry and some sunshine when we arrived at the Kelpies to find Esme, Ele and Jen already there.  Esme has been many times but this was a first for Anna and Faith so Esme was keen to show them around.

Esme was running fast with Faith hot on her heels, then she stopped abruptly, turned round but Faith didn't notice and kept going and ran straight into her, both of them bumping foreheads with an audible bump!  They both looked a bit stunned for a second and as we waited for the cries, they both fell about laughing!  The red bumps on each of their foreheads were impressive but soon forgotten by them.  Testament to their determination to enjoy every second of each other's company given the 200 miles that normally separates them.

After a good explore at the Kelpies (my first visit in my wheels so I was able to see them from behind at last! :-)) we headed to Helix Park and the girls ran themselves ragged playing on all the different activities.  The wind was freezing but they were completely oblivious.

Eventually it was time to head home, Esme and the girls said goodbye (I think they are expecting to see each other again before Anna and Faith go home but sadly I don't think that will happen.)

We decided we were all hungry so it had to be McDonalds (can you sense my excitement?  No?  hahahahaha)  After some very mediocre food (they loved it of course!) we had a quick detour to Stirling Castle on the way home, just the car park at the top to let the girls see the view over Forth Valley.  Then we went looking for highland coos at Cloan Estate, but the field was empty.  A quick stop at the Coop for hot chocolate then home to watch an Easter movie together.

S messaged to say she and L had spent the day shopping at Braehead, enjoying not having to go into kid's shops and being able to spend time browsing.  I told her not to rush back so they decided to push the boat out and have dinner at Pizza Hut!  Romance isn't dead! lol!

When they returned little Faith was snuggled into me playing with my ear and hair (she does this to her mum when she's sleepy) Anna was snuggled into David, Lola and Lily were snuggled together sound asleep on the other side of the sofa and were were on to our second movie.  We'd turned the lights out to make it more cinema like and Anna announced to her mum and dad that they had to sit in the living room and not interrupt the film!  lol

S sat down beside the dogs and was amazed that Faith stayed snuggled into me (she's very clingy to her mum, especially when she's tired) rather than go to her.  She said that's never happened before, so I feel very special :-)

When the second film ended the girls got their jammies on and returned to give us a goodnight cuddle and thank us for a lovely day.  They are just the sweetest wee things.

After the girls were in bed, S & L told us about their day and how it was great just to have some time together without being nagged constantly about going to the Disney store!  lol

A good day all round for everyone :D

P.S. In the car on the way home from Stirling Faith piped up from the back seat, "Dabid?  Diane?"  "yes" I said, "I LOVE you!!!"  she bellowed, followed by a "I love you too!" from Anna.  It took me a moment before I could reply "and we love you too!"

*Title changed thanks to inspiration from a blip pal :-))
