Unflowering
We've two large Pieris shrubs. The one by Big George is the paler of the two and seems to burst into colour first. The other, above, is a stronger red and is putting out new red growth well now. Handy, given we're opening the garden for charity on Sunday.
(Dear Weather, please could you stop raining so I can mow the lawns?)
Of course, the red bits aren't flowers (the dangly, arch'y bits behind are, or rather were, the flowers) but it seems so ingrained that the headline brightly coloured bits of plants are the flowers that it's not difficult to think of them as 'flowering'.
