Maple Blossoms

My poor maple tree doesn't look like it's going to bounce back.  About 30% of it has these lovely blossoms, but the rest of it looks dead.  We have someone coming out next week to look at it.  I would hate to have it cut down when part of it is still alive.  I'm hoping they will suggest some way to trim it.  

I am grateful to PD for having a fire burning and coffee ready when I got up this morning.  It was 12F (about -11C) at 8:30, so they were both very welcome.  Later in the day it warmed up to about 40.  Snow in some parts of the state but none for us.  So far, we've dodged the bullet....
