Oviedo

The photo shows Oviedo Cathedral as a backdrop to the statue of La Regenta (the Regent). The Regent  (the book by Alas) is a kind of Spanish Madame Bovary but located in an Oviedo probably well recognisable to its late-19th century readers. The book and its author were betes noires in some circles in Oviedo society, but are now regarded as important.
