Light Pinks at Giverny
Our friends Annick and Thierry drove us today for a full-day visit to Monet's Gardens at Giverny, not far from Paris.-- a classic tourist destination if there ever was one (but still enjoyable :) Many broader views of the gardens are certainly on the web, so I'm staying with this delicate close-up, just off one of the paths.
It was a beautiful and warm day and the gardens were crowded, although the extensive space absorbed the crowds well. Flowers were everywhere and we especially enjoyed the rows of tulips of all varieties and colors. Monet's house was interesting and there is an excellent gift shop plus a museum of impressionism in the village. Currently there is a very small exhibition juxtaposing Monet's work with that of the American Mark Rothko.
