Light Will Win

As I arrived in Oxford dropping off Matt and his friend later this evening we were greeted by one of his other friends sat in the courtyard and telling us the news of the bomb and deaths at Boston Marathon today, he like many needed to connect with someone I guess, somehow reassure himself that all alone in his room in college he wasn't alone and that something in the world was alright.

Awful stuff happens every day, atrocites, injustice, evil acts perpetuated and I'm not going to wonder too much today why this has impacted me and others much more than those other things.

I've run 7 marathons in the last decade and am of the opinion that despite the slight madness of it all that to run and watch one is an amazing celebration of life. Running the big city marathons you find people not only running in their own personal story but remembering friends and family in their challenge of running the distance. Each year these big city marathons see millions raised for good causes. People of every faith and tribe turn up to London, New York, Chicago.....Boston.

At time of posting this the perpertrators of this awful act are not known, but despite their motives these moment and days and years are not about them, they are about the lives lost and effected by bombs. Our prayers go to them, no less than that.

I've processed the imaged today pushing the contrast a bit. Despite the dark, we are drawn to the light. Light in spite of everything wins.
