Very Good Friday
Jesus on the cross, courtesy of Allegra (the holders possibly a bit too cheerful for the subject).
But it has been a good day, at last we all actually got out. Went over the Lake to Monsaraz; good to see it with their eyes; mine tend to get a bit jaded. Extras of Deb with her camera, and a view of the town, after we'd watched the sun disappear over the horizon.
Lent verses were from Isaiah 52v13-53v12, written around 700 years before Jesus died:
He was beaten, he was tortured,
but he didn't say a word.
Like a lamb taken to be slaughtered
and like a sheep being sheared,
he took it all in silence.
Justice miscarried, and he was led off -
and did anyone really know what was happening?
He died without a thought for his own welfare,
beaten bloody for the sins of my people.
Gratefuls:
- Sam finding the wallet he thought he'd lost
- an Easter gift from Margareth and Goran
- the kids handling well the disappointment of no room at Sem Fim
and Jesus, of course.
