More scones

Quiet day in the home office, working through promotions letter drafts (frustrating work given how much cross checking and correcting was required!). Resisted breakfast and more than a piece of toast for lunch because I had a meeting with a member of one of my boards which we’d arranged to have over a cream tea at The Ivy. I was really looking forward to the tiered stand heaving with delicious bits and pieces but the flurry of activity when we were ordering meant I thought the choice was simply between with or without champagne so we ordered cream tea with tea and it turned out to be just scones. All very lovely but not what I’d been looking forward to!
We chatted for quite a long time and it was interesting to get his views on how the board works and try to explain the world of education to him a bit.
Had a wander around the St James Quarter shops afterwards and picked up a new perfume, tried out several products and got some advice from various assistants then walked home. Warm but hasn’t been very sunny today at all…disappointing given how sunny it is elsewhere.
