Oh, Boston :(

Today my long-anticipated shipment arrived from Lift Your Sole. An indulgence to commemorate my first half marathon last St. Patrick's Day. A half marathon run a full 9 months ahead of schedule. Not a record setting finish, but I met my goal and finished in under 3 hours. A necklace carefully planned and skillfully created. Perfect.

And then the sky fell. News out of Boston that a terrorist bombing at the finish line had injured many and claimed lives including an 8 year old boy. My youngest daughter is 8 and my girls often accompany me at races. Hit close to home. Way too close. I can't begin to comprehend the mindset of a person who finds delight in terrorizing others.

My heart goes out to the marathoners, the first responders and the spectators. And to their families and others directly impacted today. My beautiful new necklace will forever be also a reminder of the horror that occurred today involving the sport I have only recently grown to love. I think I need to go for a run.
