Oystercatchers

Much of the UK might have been basking in warm Spring sunshine - but today Shetland appeared not to had the memo.  There has been low persistent cloud all day - and enough wind to keep the puffins (and other auks) off the cliffs.

One of my fallbacks on days like this is a freshwater pool just beside the pier at Grutness - there is usually something to watch.  Today it was a pair of oystercatchers doing what oystercatchers do at this time of year - hopefully there will be youngsters in the pool later in the Summer.

I took photographs at the same pool last July
