Noticed this unusual wee diving duck on the lower lochan at Inverness Campus this morning. Only having a macro lens on the camera wasn't ideal. Will have to bring something better tomorrow, if it's still about. A little Internet research soon revealed it to be an American species - a Bufflehead duck.
(Later in the week, heard that it was an escapee from someone's collection near Daviot, which explains why it was in very good condition... that wouldn't be the case if it had flown thousands of miles off course!)
