The old electric oak

This ancient oak tree is thought to be about 800 years old and lucky to still be alive. The girth is 10.5m making it one of the largest oak trees in the UK.  It was saved from being pollarded by a parish councillor, who persuaded the quarry to talk to Western Power.  Fortunately, it is now protected with a fence, an explanation and is continuing to be a wonderful sight for walkers.
