Up the River with the Tibetans...
...Sonam and Nyima.
WOW! What a day......Cruising up and down the river in the Jolly (Roger)...Merrick was a fabulous Captain , Pyar the sandwich maker from heaven ( a very integral part of the trip) and the wonderful Sonam and Nyima who prayed over the grapes and sandwiches (they always taste better with prayers).
The day started off glorious...everything sparkling and beautiful.....we passed the convention of Pelicans (they are back yippee).....a white bellied sea Eagle circled us for a while and then the airiel dance of at least 20 white egrets with the sun glinting off of their wings got us all ooohing and ahhing.
It is so beautiful being on the river...there is nothing quite like it.........it makes my heart sing and I somehow feel so at home (mind you...its pelting down rain now and dark ....so maybe during the sunny day is good).
There was the ubiquitous cormorants ....spoonbills...... other birds darting in and out of the mangroves........butterflies and jumping fish.
What else to say? I could wax lyrical for ages about the wonderful day we all had ....... the many laughs ....... wonderful food....and the best of company....but I think by now you've got the idea.
Oh yes there is one more thing to say.........we also saw a very big Raptor...(not quite sure what it was but it was very BIG) that had just caught a fish...it was so close I could see the blood on it ........great for yours truly madame myopic.
OK going now.
