Great Tit at the top of the 'winning' Hawthorn. The Hawthorn and a Rowan tree had been growing together for years. Suspect the former gained advantage by sucking out a great deal of the beneficial contents of my collection of nearby compost bins. Sadly the Rowan started to sag a bit last year, then the main trunk fractured at the base and was blown over in recent storms, leaving the remaining smaller trunks looking very limp, alas.
