Overshadowed

My neighborhood is one of the oldest in the city. Some houses are more than 100 years old. The residents of this little community were employed by a gold refinery that serviced Cripple Creek’s gold rush in the late 1800s. Until development in early 2000s, we had the privilege of privacy for decades. I miss the meadowlarks’ song, the foxes’ cry, and the peace of no traffic in our little neighborhood nestled in the foothills of Pikes Peak.
