The Fisherman's Chapel, St Brelade, Jersey

A quieter day than yesterday, but still quite active. This morning we went for a lovely walk along the cliffs west of St Brelade's Bay, going a little further than Beauport Beach which sits in a lovely little cove. On the way we passed the beautiful St Brelade's Church and popped inside for a look round.

In the grounds of the main church is the little Fisherman's Chapel: it was built from 11th to 12th Century on the site of a small 6th Century monastic church. In the 14th Century the east wall (see in the photo) was decorated with a depiction of the Annunciation of the Virgin Mary, flanked by 14 kneeling figures. Over the years it's had a variety of uses, including an armoury when it housed the parish cannon. In the late medieval period it became associated with the fishing guilds, hence its name. It was restored in 1883 and 1973.

This afternoon all guests from yesterday's wedding were invited to a drop-in at the groom's parents' house so we had a further chance to socialise with family and friends.
