We are Sailing!

In Guernsey sailing is very popular as you may imagine and this blip shows the Guernsey Yacht Club and to the left of it you can just about see the Guernsey Sailing Trust. This is a charitable organisation set up to give every Guernsey child an opportunity to try sailing, if they wish. Many hundreds do and establish a lifelong interest in sailing and the sea.
The orange dinghys shown are one class available to the volunteer sailing instructors probably used by the slightly more advanced classes.
Everybody starts sailing on the Model Yacht Pond in an Oppie (Optimist) which is a very tiny and safe boat for starters.
Sailing started in earnest today, in rain...the Model Yacht Pond was alive with Oppies darting in all directions!
