Reflections

So today, Florida "leaders" banned a bunch of math books, based on their evaluation that the books encourage 'critical race theory - CRT.' The governor said the books are "indoctrinating concepts like race essentialism, especially, for elementary school students."

 CRT has been a major platform for the Republicans who, of course, take a dim view of the very concept of education. Even basic literacy and math skills are viewed as a threat because they open the door to critical thinking. And critical thinkers can't be led down the rabbit hole of conspiracy theories... Libraries are next on the list, with already wholesale lists of books Republicans want banned. Being gay in some parts of the US could be a dangerous proposition...


I'm not sure where this country is heading but I don't like it. I'm hoping France does the right thing this weekend on its presidential elections so that my family and I have an escape, should we want to leave the US...
