Celebrations

Garden cat Jessica disappeared 2-3 days ago, and reappeared this morning obviously having given birth over the weekend. I don't know where the kittens are, but she was very calm, very clean and very hungry. Satiated, she relaxed in the sunshine before disappearing to nurse them. She repeated this pattern throughout the day. She's a very practical mother.

Interestingly,  it is just about exactly a year ago she gave birth to her last litter. (here)

In addition to quite a few cats, also celebrating today are my brother, my nephew, and Graham, all of whom have birthdays today. Many happy returns to them all.
