Shield bug

I saw this bug land on the lilac and tried to take a decent photo - I largely failed as it kept moving around!  I cropped this, so it is a bit blurry.  I do like shield bugs.

We appear to only have one bud on the lilac this year!  The azalea, on the other hand is full of buds and bursting blossom - and last year it had none at all!  I suppose everything takes a rest sometimes.

It is so hot out there this afternoon!
