Wound up in Wexford

Pom pom plant

More accurately called phlomis, but when we first came across it in Beth Chatto's garden, we didn't know what it was called, and referred to it as the pom pom plant when discussing whether to get one.

We planted just one example of this variety - which I think is Phlomis tuberosa "Amazone" , and one of another variety, in October 2019, and they've been quite slow to establish - this is the first year we've seen any signs of flowering.  So far only on this plant, though there are plenty of leaves on the other plant, so perhaps the flowers will follow later.

We took the remains of the large wardrobes to the tip this morning, and disposed of all the pieces.  I meant to take a photo of the stack of wood in the back of the car, but forgot.  Amazingly, they accepted our word for the fact that although they were now in many pieces, they were the remains of free standing wardrobes, and therefore we didn't have to pay for disposal.  The third bedroom (which we always used as a dressing room) is now feeling much more spacious - but our clothes are largely in boxes and trays on the spare bed.

We then took several boxes of redundant kitchen ware and clothes to the charity shop.  I vacuumed the studio, which was very messy with bits of thread.

W is currently fastening labels onto our various trees, in the hope that this will give the new owners encouragement to care for them.  They are due to come for another look round and measure up over the weekend - the Estate Agents will have to accompany them, as we will be away.
