Asian hornet?

On washbasin today. It looked scarey so carefully put it out of front window inside of back onto terrace.
Think it's Asian Hornet which are very dangerous to other insects. Particularly bad fir bees and have put an end to several bee hives. Should I have killed it? I never do kill any insects.
