No Man's Land
Duets in the morning with Bill followed by Tai Chi.
The afternoon was bright and sunny so we decided to go for a walk from Dunford Bridge along the Trans Pennine Trail, forgetting that there is work in progress to remove a few electricity pylons. The stated purpose of the £120m+ project is to improve the view by putting the cables under the ground of the trail. I am not one for conspiracy theories but find in slightly incredulous that that amount of money is being spent to remove about 6 pylons along a 1.5 km stretch. At the moment the area is devastated with the existing trail closed and new roadways cutting through the landscape to a series of construction sites. The experience of walking on the enclosed roadway gave the impression of being in 'no man's land' for a contested border. We could not face walking back along the same stretch so took a lengthy detour that was not without further problems. Our afternoon stroll turned into a 6 mile hike.
