Sour and Sweet…by Zadok Ben-David .. at Kew

Today I went to Kew Gardens to see the exhibition in the Shirley Sherwood Gallery which finishes this weekend. The main artworks are by Zadok Ben-David. In the large room is his work called ‘Blackfield’ which is an installation made up of 17,000 individually etched and hand-painted steel flowers and trees positioned on a bed of sand… see extra. You need to walk around the exhibit as the reverse of the items are coloured. Very difficult to get good photos as quite dark in the gallery.

The blip is one of a series of 7 ‘plants’ by the same artist which are hand painted stainless steel  in a plexiglass case. This was my favourite.

Kew Gardens we’re very busy today, lots of school trips as well as many other small groups of visitors. The restaurants had long queues at lunchtime. So good that visitors are returning there.
Like at Hampton a court yesterday most of the tulips were over but the Camelias were looking very good.
