The Hedgehog Cactus
A hedgehog cactus in full bloom. It's stunning to the eye. The "arms" of the cactus are so close together that they cling to each other. You might be able to make them out.
While the flowers are similar to the ones you've seen previously posted here, because let's face it, they are all related, there are distinct differences.
The mere fact that they bloom at the same time and last for a while are significant differences right there!
Most of the year, the hedgehog looks like a clump of thick tubes bunched together no more than a foot high from the ground. But they are magnificent in Springtime!
