Albino strawberry...

.... actually, no it isn't an albino strawberry (although you'd be forgiven for thinking so), it's actually a Pineberry.

I've never had one before, so when I saw them in the supermarket today, I decided to try them. Apparently, they're meant to be a cross between a strawberry and a pineapple - how that works, I don't know!

They're meant to look like a strawberry (which they do, except they've been negatived - if that's even a word) but meant to taste like pineapples (which I'm not so sure that they do, really). They tasted quite tart, which overpowered the delicate pineapple-iness. Plus they're bloody tiny! You'd have thought that given the size of pineapples, that they might be a bit bigger!

Interesting fruit, but don't think I'll pay £3.99 for another small punnet of them though...... O.o
