Peace Garden

Went to look at a potential job in a village near Molesworth this morning. Can’t do the work as the floor not suitable for renovation, but did get a blip out of it.
Just nearby is this Peace Garden, which on further investigation is really interesting.
It seems RAF Molesworth was earmarked to be a cruise nuclear missile site and a peace camp was established in the 1980s.
Several evictions later, and the missiles long gone, the peace garden now looks rather forlorn, although it was re-dedicated a few years ago.
But it really gave me a lump in my throat, as it would be nice to think that fences would come down, war would cease and people of all faiths and none would be able to stand together and live side by side.
See extra for more detail if you are interested. And as the stone bench is looking rather derelict, I have tagged for derelict sunday this week.
