Blakeney

Today was sunny but as expected there was a fierce wind that was very cold, it only got to about13C today. Out of the wind and in the sunshine it felt quite warm, but in the wind it felt quite Arctic.

After breakfast we drove to Blakeney as we wanted to do a circular walk from there to Cley-next-the-Sea. Before we set off on the walk we enjoyed a delicious oat milk cappuccino from a food van called Birdy's Bakehouse on the quay. The walk was about 4 miles long, and it was into the wind which made it quite tough going at times. Xena's ears were flying backwards like a pilot's ear flaps on his hat! Cley is a charming little village, most of the buildings have flint in them, and there are some interesting artisan shops selling artworks and pottery. As it was a circular route we ended up back in Blakeney, and as it was lunchtime we went back to Birdy's and had lunch there, sitting on the tables and chairs set up on the quayside. This image was taken in Blakeney which is another flint village - flint seems to be a feature of this north Norfolk coast. The extra is the Blakeney quay with the tide coming in, and you can see how windy it is from the rippled water.

On the way home we stopped off at Burnham Market, a chi chi little village nicknamed  Chelsea on Sea as it has many trendy cafes, restaurants and shops! We enjoyed another cappuccino at an Italian cafe (dogs were allowed inside).

Finally home again, Xena was very tired and went straight to her basket to sleep. We spent time trying to set the heating system, as up to now the heating has been a little off but after downloading the manual I think we have now corrected it.

Tonight we are going to a dinner at the local yacht club (I spent all afternoon trying to wriggle out of it as I don't sail and know nothing about boats) I know everyone there will be very enthusiastic about sailing and I must remember to smile and not say anything about how I don't like sailing.
