Normal

Things were more normal today.

It is dry. The sun has come out occasionally. If yesterday was more March than April, today has been proper April. Of course I have no idea what “proper April” looks like around here, but still.

Following Škoda Peter’s advice again (see Thursday’s Blip) I walked across town to the transport museum. It does have an excellent and eclectic collection ranging from a Buick, umpteen Škodas and Tatras (Extra) in the vehicle section, to bits of old trains and even wreckage from a ČSA Ilyushin IL18 airliner which crashed here in 1976.

It is also hosting a special exhibition about the history of VW’s car manufacturing in Slovakia.

Worth the walk.

On the way back I took myself past the Slovensky Rozhlas (Slovak Radio) building to see it up close. Our tour on Thursday had flashed past it. Well, trundled.

I am informed that the design of the Slovensky Rozhlas building means each floor shades the one below it from the sun in summer, but each floor gets whatever sunshine is available in winter because the sun is lower. It dates from 1983, so it is very definitely a relic of the communist and Czechoslovak eras.

Worth the Blip.
