Ben More

Up early making a hearty breakfast and packing an excellent picnic for myself. Met my friends in the village and we drove to the base of Ben More, a beautiful clear sunny day - we picked a good one. The first 500 metres really hard work, steep and not much variety through the grass. The next 400 meters even harder but much more interesting zigzagging up the stoney paths, looking up to the very steep peak ahead. So rewarding to get to the top, have our picnic and take in the breathtaking mountain and sea views, figuring out what we were looking at. On the way down we stopped at one of the many pools and a few of us had a swim, the water icy cold. It took us 6 hours in total, feeling very ready for bed now.
