Anzac - Gallipoli

My father, who fought at Gallipoli, took these photos at Mudros, port of Lemnos, the allied base close to the Dardanelles, in the 1st WW.
I wonder if the young soldier thought of his family back home in New Zealand as he watched these women going about their domestic tasks (in this case spinning cotton), and how they felt when they saw the troops arriving on their shores.
