Mingmar Sherpa
This is our guest house owner and host. Many ethnic groups here use the name of the group as a "surname", such as Mingmar here. Sherpa's are closely related to Tibetans, having moved from Tibet into the hills around Nepal about 500 years ago. Their culture has many similarities and their languages are the same/very closely related (not really sure about this exactly!).
Mingmar recommended that to avoid paying the 3000 rupees each to enter the national park (only to leave again straight away) we take the local route down the valley, which we did. The trail was down all the way through fields of potatoes, rice, wheat. It was beautiful to see and the villages and houses are amazing. The people working there are also all handsome and brightly clothes. It looks idyllic but is hard work subsistence farming.
We arrived at the road the bus travels along and decided in the end to hop on all the way back to Kathmandu.
We then watched Searching for Sugar Man, which was outstanding. It is an uplifting and wonderful documentary about a singer songwriter from the late 60's early 70's...
