Losing or spending time?

I used to take way more macro shots, and wish I still did. However, I don’t have a real macro lens anymore, just extension tubes. I use them with my 50mm fixed lens, and feel I can’t get in as close as I’d like to ever. Maybe I should try them with my main lens, 24 to 105. Any feedback welcome.
Getting there. I did get a major job ticked off a list, it’s been lurking there since last September!
